Carolina gets: Backstrom
Washington gets: Sutter, 2 2nd round picks (#46, #53)
(for those of you who dont know, Sutter is not some scrub. he is essentially identical to jordan staal.)

I realize Sutter is not some scrub. He is a really good player, but is he even in the same league as Backstrom, I don't think this is close.

but i also got two second round picks. these two trades fill my void at second Left Wing and 3rd Center this fills those voids and Sutter is a viable 1st line center.

realistically, this is near the value Backstrom would return if he were to be traded.
See Joe Thornton trade

How many second rounders never even amount to anything? I can see the other trade, even though I still don't like the value, but this trade is a complete downgrade at the #1 center position. How many 100 point players are in the league?

Backstrom is still only 23 and still getting better. If Backstrom were to get traded, I can guarantee it would be for much more than this.

Backstrom is not that much better than sutter to be honest. 2 2nds make up the difference. you must be really underrating Sutter. The kid is only 21 and has already proven himself

and sutter is 21 and getting better. if you put ovechkin on a line with sutter last year sutter would have put up 100 points

and sutter is 21 and getting better. if you put ovechkin on a line with sutter last year sutter would have put up 100 points Yes Sutter picks up 60+ points just by playing with Ovechkin.
