if the other team inherits the contract you signed, then shouldn't it be fine? I think this is the way it should be, as long as the team likes the deal you signed the player to then the deal should be ok

I've had many trades ruined because of it, and it would be pretty unfair to lift the rule now when it involves one of your trades.

Why can't you make the deals now if the rule gets lifted, i know the players you wanted might be gone but you could still find otheers good deals

i don't understand why these trades cant go through, the CBA allows for recently signed UFA's to be traded and RFA's who were only offered by their previous teams to be traded, can we just have a set date for the rule to be lifted?

well if we're trying to be realistic, then shouldnt we at least mirror the CBA? you could put a cap on the amount of trades involving re-signed players a team could make so that would make it more realistic. its really the most realistic solution to the problem

i know this isn't basketball, but the raptors just did a sign and trade with the heat...isn't this kind of the same? The NBA is far different from the NHL in terms of salary cap and trades.

There is no rule in the CBA that disallows sign and trades.
But it was a rule made specifically by ibleedblue8 for this league. All other leagues have their own set of rules, this is one we should follow if it's what the commissioner decides.
